U18s Fall to #3 Harvard, 7-2

BOSTON – Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) and Adam Samuelsson (San Diego, Calif.) tallied goals and Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) recorded two assists for the U.S. National Under-18 Team in a 7-2 loss to third-ranked Harvard University on Saturday night at the Bright-Landry Center.

With the loss, the U18s fall to 6-4-0-0-0 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL-) on the season and 1-4-0 (W-L-T) against NCAA competition.

The U18s played through two scoreless periods while Harvard tacked on four goals in the first period and two in the second period, including three power play goals.

Skater Leaders

Samuelsson opened the scoring for the U18s at the 8:45 mark of the third period when he took a feed from Wahlstrom. Erik Middendorf (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also recorded an assist on the play.

At the 13:45 mark of the period, Wahlstrom stole the puck from a Harvard defender and skated behind the net where he fed the puck to a net-crashing Farabee, who slammed the puck past the Harvard goaltender.

Jonathan Mor (Highland Park, Ill.) and Drew DeRidder (Fenton, Mich.) split time in net for the U18s. DeRidder made four saves on seven shots while Mor made 16 saves on 20 shots.

The Crimson went 3-5 on the power play while the U18s went 1-6.

The U18s outshot Harvard 30-27.

The U18s return to action next Friday (Oct. 27) at 7 p.m. ET against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at USA Hockey Arena.
