High Performance Symposiums

May 2015 - USA Hockey High Performance Symposium

In conjunction with the United States Olympic Committee’s Coaching Program, USA Hockey hosted a symposium focused on the development of elite teenage athletes. Sixty attendees were selected from a cross-section of programs throughout the U.S., along with other groups influencing the American player pool. The attendees came from USA Hockey Tier I programs, high school programs, prep school programs and junior hockey programs.

Symposium Presentations

Symposium presenters included experts from the USOC’s sport performance staff, the NCAA, NHL, USA Hockey and other elite-level developmental programs from around the U.S. and the international sporting community.

As participation was limited based on available space, USA Hockey hopes to make this a recurring event so that additional candidates have the opportunity to attend in coming years. But, in order to share the knowledge from our first High Performance Symposium, we have assembled several of the video presentations from selected presenters here and we'll be posting additional information as it is developed.

In its truest sense, high-performance sport really only exists at the Olympic and professional levels, where true performance-on-demand is the benchmark for success or failure. However, there should be nothing that limits the developmental coach from being high-performance in the delivery of their programming or the environment that they create for our young players. We hope that by sharing this information, USA Hockey assists our best developmental coaches in their quest for continual improvement.
