X: X-Training

At 12U, we want our children involved in a minimum of 60 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous physical activity, and some of that time should be spent playing sports other than ice hockey. The break from the rink will keep them even more motivated when they do return to the ice, and the competitive aspects of other sports will expose them to different challenges and adversities that will help them succeed on the ice.

Individual sports like tennis can help with the development of explosive lateral movement as well as teach kids self-reliance. Team sports can teach cooperation. Different coaches will add to your child’s competitive knowledge base.

This offseason, make sure your kids are exposed to different sports and activities to expand their athletic foundation.
