U.S. opens IPH Cup against Team IPH tomorrow at 10:00am ET

OSTRAVA, Czechia – The U.S. National Sled Team, with goals from Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.), Malik Jones (Aurora, Colo.) and Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) defeated Canada, 3-0, here today, in a pre-tournament game in advance of the IPH Cup, which kicks off tomorrow.

"We got off to a good start and were able to play all four lines today,” said David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.), head coach of the U.S. National Sled Team. “It was good to win, but the player evaluation was even more important, so it worked out well with everyone getting plenty of opportunities against a good, young Canadian team."

Captain Josh Pauls opened the scoring with just 1:07 left in the opening period with an assist from newcomer Ben Musselman (Amelia, Ohio).

Musselman picked up his second assist of the game on another late-period goal, this time from Malik Jones in the final minute of the second period at 14:09.

The third and final goal of the game came unassisted from Declan Farmer with just over a minute remaining in the contest.

Goaltender Griffin LaMarre (Haverhill, Mass.) played all 45:00 in recording a shutout.

The U.S. will open preliminary round play in the IPH Cup tomorrow (Sept. 24) against Team IPH. Opening faceoff is at 10 a.m. ET, and the game will be streamed live here.
