G: Grit

Grit is a characteristic that has been defined as having an indomitable spirit and the tendency to sustain interest in and effort toward very long-term goals. At the highest levels of sport, grit is viewed as a key indicator of potential future success. This ability to persist is something that Olympians in all sports seem to share. Angela Duckworth, a psychology professor at the University of Pennsylvania, is at the forefront of studying grit and she gives some suggestions on how we might help develop this trait in our kids.
