K: Kaizen

Kaizen is the Japanese business principle of continuous improvement. It's one of the 10 original principles of long-term athlete development and USA Hockey's American Development Model.

In human performance, even at the highest standards of execution, there is always room for improvement. Change is the only constant in high-performance sport. In that world, if you are doing everything the same way you were 10 years previously, you have already lost. Part of the DNA within USA Hockey’s ADM is the idea that we will always strive for improvement, for kaizen. We will continue to learn new ways to enhance youth development and the youth sports experience for our kids. Small improvements add up to big results over time.
