Kristen Sagaert serves as USA Hockey’s Director of Girls Hockey, supporting players, coaches, hockey directors, and parents nationwide in creating meaningful development experiences for girls in the sport.
In her player development role, Sagaert oversees USA Hockey’s Girls National Player Development Camps, ensuring top female athletes from across the country receive elite training, exposure, and opportunities to advance within affiliate, district and national pathways. Through these efforts, she also champions coach and staff development opportunities and supports a thriving internship program that cultivates the next generation of staff and coaches in women’s hockey.
As the staff liaison to USA Hockey’s Girls Council, Sagaert helps bring the ideas of volunteer leadership to life across its six working subcommittees—Growth, Visibility, Leadership, Mentorship, Research, and Player Development. She also directs the annual Game On: Leadership Summit, advancing collaboration and leadership among girls and women’s hockey stakeholders nationwide. Additionally, she serves on several national committees, including the NHL Women’s Advancement Committee, USA Hockey Youth Council, National Championships Committee, and Player Development Committee.
Sagaert has served as General Manager for the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2026) and has also achieved success behind the bench—earning a silver medal as assistant coach of the 2013 U.S. Women’s World University Team, a silver medal as head coach of the 2020 Youth Olympic Games 3v3 Mixed NOC Team, and a boys high school state championship at Cheyenne Mountain High School.
A Minnesota and Arizona native, Sagaert played at Shattuck-St. Mary’s and Connecticut College, where she was a two-time captain and academic All-American. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado. Prior to joining USA Hockey, she coached at the University of Colorado–Boulder and practiced law in Longmont, Colorado. She now resides in Bend, Oregon, with her husband, their son Charlie, and their two dogs. Outside of hockey, she enjoys running, yoga, swimming, and time outdoors.
